Castello Vicchiomaggio is located near the town of Greve in Chianti, in the heart of Chianti Classico, just 18 km from Florence and 38 km from Siena.
Its location makes it the perfect spot not only for relaxing stays away from the hustle and bustle of daily life but also as a starting point to explore Tuscany. From the artistic and architectural masterpieces of Florence and Siena to the charming, lesser-known destinations like San Gimignano, Greve in Chianti, Monteriggioni, Volterra, the Crete Senesi, and Pisa.
The nearest airports are Florence (about a 30-minute drive) and Pisa (about a 1-hour drive)
Travelling on the A1 to the north or south take the "Firenze Sud" exit (not Valdarno for those coming from the south). Turn right 200 meters after the toll. Pass in front of the Sheraton Hotel and take the right turn towards Greve in Chianti.
The road is also called the SR 222 of Chiantigiana.
Stay on this road, following the signs to Greve in Chianti, and after 18 km you will see Castello Vicchiomaggio up on the hill to the right.
Exit the SR 222 and proceed for 800 meters until you reach the parking lot of the Castle.
We are a short drive from the airports of Florence and Pisa.
You can reach us via the SITA bus service.
The bus station is located in Florence's Piazza della Stazione (near the train station of Santa Maria Novella). The ticket costs about 4 €. Take the SITA bus with Greve in Chianti (Via Strada) as the destination and get off at Le Bolle.
Once you arrive, walk straight along the road (50 meters) and you will see our San Jacopo wine shop on the right.
The castle is 800 metres up the hill.
